Vanity was a glamorous Canadian model and lead singer of the all-girl group "Vanity 6." She specialized in playing sultry female characters often in trouble with the law.
Vanity was born Denise Katherine Matthews in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Helga Senyk and James Levia Matthews. She was of African and German descent. Vanity first appeared on screen in the biographical tale of writer Jack London titled Klondike Fever (1979), before venturing into more gritty territory such as the slasher film Terror Train (1980), the very odd chick flick Tanya's Island (1980), a B-grade martial arts film entitled The Last Dragon (1985) and the totally weird Never Too Young to Die (1986).
However, her best two performances were as the naive stripper assisting blackmail victim Roy Scheider in the under-rated thriller 52 Pick-Up (1986) and as a seductive, smart-talking nightclub singer teaming up with cop Carl Weathers to defeat murderous car tycoon Craig T. Nelson in the violent Action Jackson (1988).
Unfortunately, the remainder of Vanity's film work was of the "straight-to-video" variety and she only scored minor roles in several low-budget thrillers such as Neon City (1991) and Da Vinci's War (1993). In late 1995, Vanity turned her back on Hollywood and the entertainment industry, and dedicated her life to the Christian faith.
Vanity, who suffered from sclerosis encapsulating peritonitis, died on February 15, 2016 in Fremont, California.- Born in Brooklyn, Bergere began his career in 1936 as understudy to Danny Kaye in the Broadway production of "Lady in the Dark", with Gertrude Lawrence. He appeared in more than 200 television shows, including an original Star Trek (1966) episode in which he played Abraham Lincoln He died at the age of 88 in New Hampshire where he lived for over a decade.

Audree Norton was born in Great Falls, Montana and attended the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Gallaudet University in 1952. That same year she married Kenneth Norton in Houston, Texas. Her first appearance on television was in the mid-1950s doing live commercials for Royal Crown Cola on a Houston television station. She gave birth to a daughter, Nikki, in 1953; a son, Kurt, in 1954; and another son, Dane, in 1957. In 1967 she was a founding member of the National Theatre of the Deaf and appeared with the company on Broadway, across the United States and around the world. She was the first Deaf actor to appear on an American network television series with her featured appearance in 1968 on the CBS crime drama, "Mannix." She followed that with an appearance on "Family Affair," "A Man and the City," "The Streets of San Francisco" and numerous commercials. In the 1970s she left acting and began teaching media, English and psychology at Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California. She received a Masters in Rhetoric and Public Address from California State University at Hayward in 1976. Audree retired as a Professor Emeritus from Ohlone College in 1992. She was very honored and thrilled to be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Gallaudet University in 2012. She was married to Kenneth Norton for 63 years and she died peacefully in their home in Fremont, California surrounded by her loving family. Audree was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.- The twice-married singer and actress was the youngest of the seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Aronson of Arkansas and Missouri. Leona was the only one of the seven born away from Arkansas. Gilbert M. 'Broncho Billy' Anderson, nee Maxwell Henry Aronson, was her much older and bigger brother. She ran away from Denver and school to come to California where he was making movies. Young Leona was old enough for her brother to dress her up and put her in a picture with Ben Turpin. Charles Chaplin was the director. When they got Leona near a pond, Chaplin told Turpin to "shove her in the water." Turpin did as directed. Leona came out dripping wet and muttering that she didn't think that was very funny, though the moviegoers of the day seemingly enjoyed it. Her brother soon encouraged her to return to school, and among her school chums was Grace Moon, daughter of the manufacturer of the Moon automobile in St. Louis. When Leona finally had an opportunity to go to London and study voice, it was Bronco Billy who financed the trip.
- Rutherford Birchard Hayes was one of that small legion of political non-entities who have occupied the post of President and First Magistrate of the Republic since Andrew Jackson, though he was a better man than most. Born on October 4, 1822, in Delaware, Ohio, the former Civil War general served a single term in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1865 and 1867 and then served as Governor of Ohio from 1868 to 1872 and from 1876 to 1877, when he surrendered that office for the presidency. He won the Republican nomination in 1876 because reform-minded Republicans blocked the bid of former President Ulysses S. Grant, whose two terms in office had been marked by unprecedented political corruption, for a non-consecutive third term.
He won the nickname "Rutherfraud" for winning election as the 19th President of the United States by being virtually appointed by an electoral commission adjudicating the disputed 1876 election. (The commission made a deal granting the Republicans the presidency in return for the Democrats' request to end Reconstruction in the former Confederate States. The deal damned black freedmen to quasi-slavery for nearly 100 more years.) It was an electoral anomaly that wouldn't be repeated until 2000, when the right-wing Rhenquist Court virtually anointed GOP contender George W. Bush president, not even going through the motions that the pols of the Bicentennial Year did 124 years earlier.
Hayes proved to be a decent if not spectacular president, committed to civil service reform and cleaning out government corruption. He had little taste for the pretensions of the presidency, saying, "The Presidential mania makes mad every man who is at all prominent in Washington. It never seemed to me worth the cost of self-respect, of independence." He did not stand for reelection in 1880.
